The third time was not the charm for Bobby Brown. A California judge sentenced the R&B great to 55 days in jail for a recent DUI charge, the third such offense on his record.
According to TMZ, Brown pleaded no contest to the charges on Tuesday. In addition to the jail time, the New Edition band member is on probation for four years and must complete an 18-month alcohol program.
Brown was arrested in October 2012 after he failed a field sobriety test during a traffic stop. Los Angeles police pulled over Brown’s vehicle when they noticed him driving erratically. Prior to the October arrest, the 43-year-old entertainer was jailed for operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .12, the legal limit is .08, in March. Brown caught his first DUI conviction in 1996.
The court has given the R&B bad boy until March 20 to turn himself in to the authorities, and in the meantime he must attend 3 AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings per week.

First Black Poet Laureate in Kentucky Is Selected

Frank Walker, a professor and writer of several books of poetry, is also the youngest to hold the position in the state’s history.

Frank X. Walker, an associate professor of English at the University of Kentucky, has been named as the poet laureate of Kentucky by Steve Beshear, the state’s governor. He is the first African-American poet to hold that position.

Walker also serves as the university’s director of African-American and Africana studies program. He will take the position of poet laureate in a public ceremony that is to take place at the state capitol building in Frankfort.

Walker, who is the author of a number of books, has taught at the University of Kentucky since 2010. Before that, he was a member of the faculty at Northern Kentucky University and at Eastern Kentucky University.

He has become well-known for creating the term "Affrilachia," which is designed to unify Appalachian and African-American culture and history.

"I want to remind them that books are important, developing and using their creativity is important. Everybody is creative, they just need the tools to harness and control their creativity," Walker said, in an interview with the Lexington Herald-Leader.

"I grew up in the projects so I want to tell them, 'Your circumstance is not an excuse.' If you commit to something, if you work hard and have discipline, you can accomplish anything."

Walker, 51, is also the youngest poet laureate in the state’s history.

As Kentucky’s poet laureate, Walker will be an advocate of the literary arts and will actively participate in readings at meetings, seminars and conferences throughout Kentucky over the next year.

His sixth full collection of poetry, Turn Me Loose: The Unghosting of Medgar Evers, is due to be released this spring from the University of Georgia Press.

When Ruby‘s on the mic, you know you’re in for a love ballad that will take you on an interesting journey.
Loopy Music’s Sensual Soul Diva, Ruby is back with another one. This time, she teamed up with Loopy Music boss and Choc Boi, M.I on the production and a very eclectic writing team to put this masterpiece, “Down” together. I think I’ll just let the song do the  talking for itself.

HYPEMIC MUSIC PREMIER:TERRY G – Jump Am Pass

By Onos O

Terry G is constantly in the studio endlessly churning out something we haven’t heard before. From his bells to his form of scatting, Terry G is always uniquely left field; so left field that it’s commercial.
On his new joint, Terry G sings out against his enemies and prays to effect that he will “Jump [And] Pass” all the ‘haters’. “Jump Am Pass” is a blend of the Eastern Highlife sound, church organs and of course, his bell. What do you think?
Enjoy!
